Your current electricity provider has no incentive to try to keep your business. Choosing to renew with your current provider may save you a phone call, but will likely end up costing you through higher rates and increased bills. By switching to a different provider, you get the advantage of the best rates on the market from companies competing to earn your business.
You can switch plans at any time. However, if you are in the middle of a contract and are not moving, there are likely fees for switching.
During the last 14 days of your current plan, you can switch to a new plan and no termination fee can be charged.
We charge $1 which is primarily to cover the costs for server, website, and domain costs. Our free savings calculator and plan search are good options to utilize to determine if you are currently on a good plan and if our service would be valuable to you.
Our savings calculator considers this. As we compare your current plan to those available on the market, we will make sure to only recommend you switch plans if you can save money after paying your current plan’s termination fee.
If you choose to switch providers in the middle of a plan, you will be charged a termination fee for your current plan on your final bill. If you switch plans within 14 days of your plan expiration date, you will not incur any charges for leaving the plan.
If you are ending a plan early because you are moving, you cannot be charged a termination fee. Make sure to let your provider know that you are moving. They may request proof of your change of address before ending the service without an early termination fee.
We choose fixed-rate plans because they are the simplest, and most straight-forward plans. This makes it easy to know how much your bill will be. There are some instances when a minimum use plan will be less, but making sure that happens requires you, the consumer, to constantly monitor your electricity usage to keep it within a specific benefit window (usually only allowing for a window of 300 kwh). In some cases this could cause your bill to jump from $88.79 at 1,000 kwh to $161.20 at 1,200 kwh. That’s almost double! Fixed-rate plans put an end to unwanted surprises on your bill.
We pull plan information directly from the state-maintained database found on Power to Choose. This database is designed to encourage competition between retail providers in the same geographical location. As such, these plans often offer rates better than those being marketed on individual provider websites where there is no other competition. If you do not see the plan we have displayed on the company's website, you should call the enrollment phone number that we have provided.
No. We aren’t affiliated with any other company or electricity REP. The benefit of this is that we are unlimited in our ability to provide you the best plan on the market. You won’t see any advertising on our site for specific REPs. We don’t receive kickbacks from companies to promote their services, so we are able to stick to the numbers and provide you information on whichever electricity plan offers you the best rate.
There isn’t a “best” option when it comes to electricity providers. While REPS are the ones selling plans, the same TDU serves every residence in the same are. No matter what REP you choose or what plan you sign up for, the quality of service you receive remains the same!
We can’t guarantee that you will save money. The plans available at the time you sign up are dependent on the current market, which can fluctuate just as any other part of our economy. Your bill is also determined by how much electricity you use. So if it’s summer time and you run your air conditioning more, you’ll likely see your bill rise. With that being said, We will always recommend the cheapest, most transparent, plan available on the market at the time you sign up.
Zazu Energy works for most Texans. However, if you are in an area of the state that is still regulated, or if you are a member of an electricity co-op, Zazu will not be able to help.
Additionally, if you are comfortable comparing electricity rates on your own, you may not need our service. You can search for your own electricity plan for free using www.powertochoose.org
There are a couple of different ways to find your electricity usage.
One way is by looking at your electricity bill. Your electricity usage will be measured in kWhs and should be shown on your statement. If you have an online account with your electricity provider you can often find how much electricity you have used in the past few months by logging in on their website.
Another option is by logging in to www.smartmetertexas.com. Here, you can find your electricity usage for the past 13 months. You will need your meter number and Electric Service Identifier (ESI ID) to get started. Both of these can be found on your electricity bill.
Our goal is to help our customers find the best available plan. Signing up for an electricity plan often requires the sharing of secure/private information. We believe that by providing you the best plan and all the information needed for setting up we can save you time and money without asking you to share your personal information any more than necessary. Our goal, above all, is to connect Texan's with the cheapest electricity plan in the most efficient way possible.
